Lesson 3.3

Chapter 4

Most of the kids have a pretty good grip on division! Yay! If your child is struggling, or you are lost with their notes, take a look at mine from the chapter:

PTO Pumpkins!

Parents:

Your PTO will, again, be donating pumpkins this year for each classroom!

They have been purchased from Flamingo Road nursery located at 1655 South Flamingo Road, Davie.  Now, we need YOUR HELP to pick them up on Sunday October 27 from 8 am - 10 am or Monday October from 8 am - 6 pm and deliver them to school.  There will be 15 large pumpkins.  We will give 3 volunteer hours for this!

If you are interested, please email erindernis@yahoo.com.

Math Notes 2.12

Raise your hand if you remember doing PEMDAS? (Order of operations: parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.)

We started this yesterday :) - just with the -MAS part, no division yet!

First they should put the multiplication problems in parenthesis and solve them first, then move on to the addition part (where they add the products together) and then subtract from there. Here are my notes:

This one should be a little easier for us! :)

Tonight's homework requires the kids to use strategies we reviewed in class:
These strategies will help them to be able to do MENTAL MATH! Meaning no paper & pencil 😊

Silent readers should..

This is the anchor chart that we put together for silent reading time. These are ideas directly from the kids on what silent readers should & should not be doing during "Read To Self" time :) the sticky notes are just some more ideas that I stuck on.

CRAFT board!

Our reading strategy bulletin board for Daily 5! Each of your children has a goal that THEY have picked (comprehension, responding to text, accuracy, fluency, or text features)
When we conference during daily 5, I am giving them strategies to accomplish their goals! They love conferencing and getting the chance to tell me about their books! I'll post a new picture of the board next week that shows the strategies & what everyone is working on ;)

Time to read 📚

The boys enjoying the new bean bags I bought for our reading corner! So comfy :)

Character Traits!

How the kids used character traits to describe the Velveteen Rabbit after our read aloud 🐰 I'm clearly not the best artist, but they did great!
